The Merrickville Artists’ Guild (MAG) Photographic Collective is delighted that Gerard Phillips, a well know local bird watcher and photographer, will be giving an illustrated talk at our meeting on February 12 at 7:00 PM in the Dart Room at the Goose & Gridiron Restaurant. Gerard has pursued his passion here in Canada, but also in many places around the world including Ireland, Panama, and Columbia. He will discuss this passion for birding as well as his approach to bird photography, including techniques and equipment.

The February assignment will consider the theme of “Love” as we near Valentines Day. Some ideas for images are “What do you love about … ” and anything else you can thing of related to the theme. Local photographers are welcome to submit, or bring on a memory stick, up to four JPG images for friendly dialogue on the assignment. Over the holidays we created the Merrickville-Wolford Image Bank Project for local community groups and businesses in Merrickville-Wolford who are looking for a repository of good quality images of the community in a single location to promote our area. An Image Bank will fill the need for these people to have images freely available with permissions based on standard Creative Commons licensing crediting the photographer for the use of an image. The selected platform is currently in testing with more to follow as this evolves in the coming months.

Our next meeting will be in the Dart Room at the Goose & Gridiron Restaurant on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 starting at 7:00 PM. Please watch our Facebook page for any last-minute changes: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MAGPhotographyCollective/

As part of your Annual MAG Membership, this event is FREE for MAG Members, Friends of MAG, and MAG Sponsors. A small fee of $5.00 will be charged at the door for the general public.
