We put on some pretty sweet activities

Art is first a seeing and then a revealing

– Sheldon Vanauken

MAG artists have been busy coming up with new ideas for arts events to complement the celebrated annual autumn Studio Tour we had been hosting for more than 30 years. Through our own initiatives and joint sponsorships, we want to share our love of creativity with everyone in our wonderful community and beyond. These arts events are open to all and we hope you find them both stimulating and inspirational.

 Festival of the Arts

The Merrickville Festival of the Arts provides a unique opportunity to view beautiful art, listen to great music, watch theatrical productions and hear poetry read by local poets. In collaboration with the Merrickville Organization for Culture and the Arts, MAG participates in the Merrickville Festival of the Arts. Activities takes place in the Blockhouse Park on the beautiful banks of the Rideau Canal. The date is announced on the MAG Facebook page (opens in a new window) and our News page.

We have many local opportunities to exhibit our work. In 2022 alone, our works were at Gallery 55 in the downtown Ottawa ByWard Market, in the Shenkman Centre in Orleans and at the International Plowing Match in Kemptville. These exhibits are announced on the MAG Facebook page (opens in a new window) and our News page

Shows and Sales

Once or twice a year, we put on shows and sales. These are announced on the MAG Facebook page (opens in a new window) and our News page.

MAG Gallery

Through the generosity of the Iron Forge Restaurant (opens in a new window) on Main Street in Merrickville, MAG has established a gallery to showcase the work of guild artists. A wonderful occasion to enjoy a delicious meal and view wonderful works of art.

Studio Tours

There have been no in-person Studio Tours since the pandemic. In 2020 we held a virtual Studio Tour.

For over 30 years the Merrickville Arts Guild autumn Studio Tour has given thousands of art lovers a peek into our creative worlds. While most MAG artists open their studios year round with set hours, by chance or by appointment, we like to highlight our annual Studio Tour and Sale in the fall. At that time if you decide to visit you know for sure we will be in our studios waiting to welcome you with new works made especially for this event.

Collectives

MAG artists are constantly looking to enhance the experience of creative people working in a wide range of artistic media. Specialty collectives in individual disciplines allow members to more fully pursue shared interests. Want to start a collective? Contact Nick.
