The Merrickville Artists’ Guild (MAG) and the Merrickville & District Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce a collaboration for a very worthwhile cause.

Merrickville-Wolford is hosting a second Syrian family, the Al Abouds, through the efforts of Rideau Bridge to Canada (RBC) and the Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Great progress has been made towards the $40,000 funding goal. However, the organizers are still short by approximately $17,000 primarily due to Covid related cancellation of fundraising efforts. The
Chamber of Commerce initiated arrangements with Rideau Auctions in Winchester to auction off donated items to raise funds for RBC. The MAG Executive offered to reach out to its membership – artists, Friends of MAG and patrons for the donation of art or financial contributions. The Chamber of Commerce is likewise soliciting businesses for similar donations of goods and/or services.

Rideau Auctions will be using their on-line auction platform to offer the items for sale at their December 3rd to the 7th auction. Details can be found at: http://www.rideauauctions.com/online-auctions

Offering art and products/service from local artists and merchants is a great way to support a wonderful cause while shopping for unique Christmas gifts. Alternatively, those interested in making a direct financial donation can do so through the RBC website http://www.merrickvillebridge.ca/ where donations are directed towards a special fund managed by the Ottawa
Community Foundation and donors will receive a charitable donation receipt.

Thank you very much for your support.
