The arts community is deeply saddened by the recent loss of photo journalist Gordon Beck, an active member of MAG during his Merrickville years. Gordon, who was 78, died at his Brockville home after a determined – some would say inspirational – battle with cancer. Even as he fought the disease, this talented photographer continued to pursue his vision on a project to chronicle heritage barns of the region. Gordon’s working career spanned many decades and was centred primarily in Montreal. He worked for both the Montreal Star and the Montreal Gazette, capturing memorable images of the most notable people and events of the times.
